Frequently asked questions
Where do I get modules?
Graphē uses the free MyBible module format. Hundreds of Bible translations, commentaries, dictionaries and lexicons are available at mybible.zone. Download them to a folder on your Mac and point the app to that folder in the Archives tab.
How do I add my modules to the app?
Go to the Archives tab, tap Choose Modules Folder, and select the folder containing your .sqlite3 files. The app will scan and load them automatically.
How do I add books?
Go to the Books tab, tap Choose Folder, and select a folder containing your EPUB or PDF files. You can also use the Discover tab to browse and download free books directly from sources like Monergism and CCEL.
Does the app work offline?
Yes — all Bible reading, notes, modules and downloaded books work fully offline. An internet connection is only needed for the Discover browser, AI features using the cloud option, and iCloud sync.
How does iCloud sync work?
When enabled, your notes, bookmarks and settings sync automatically across your Mac and iPhone via your personal iCloud account. Your module files and books are not synced — these remain in the folders you chose on each device.
What is the AI study assistant?
The Chat tab lets you ask theological questions and get Scripture-grounded responses. You can use it with Ollama running locally on your Mac (free, private, no account needed) or with the Anthropic Claude API (requires an API key).
What does Graphē mean?
Graphē (γραφή) is the Greek word for Scripture, used in 2 Timothy 3:16 — “All Scripture is God-breathed.”
