Do I need Microsoft Word for Scrib to work?
No. Scrib is a complete editor on its own. Word compatibility means the documents you write are genuine Word files — so they open perfectly in Word whenever you, or anyone you share with, wants them to.
Where are my documents stored?
Wherever you keep them: on your device, in iCloud Drive, or in your OneDrive. Scrib has no storage of its own and no server — documents travel only between your device and your own cloud account.
What does the orange cloud mean?
Your latest changes are saved on the device but the upload to OneDrive is waiting. Tap the cloud for the exact reason — most commonly the document is open in Word on another computer, which locks it. Close it there and tap Retry. Nothing is ever lost while the cloud is orange.
I edited in Scrib but Word shows the old text.
Check Scrib's status cloud first: green means your words are on OneDrive, and the delay is the other computer's OneDrive catching up — give it a moment and reopen the file in Word. If Scrib shows orange, tap it for the reason.
What happens if the app is closed mid-edit?
Scrib saves continuously as you pause typing, and keeps a live recovery journal besides. If the app is interrupted, your words are on the device — and almost always already in the cloud. On reopen, Scrib restores anything that hadn't been written yet.
Does Scrib collect any data about me?
No. No analytics, no tracking, no accounts of ours. When you sign in to OneDrive, you sign in with Microsoft directly — Scrib never sees your password. Read the full privacy statement.

If your question is about sync, it helps enormously to include what the status cloud says — tap it and copy the message. That text usually names the problem exactly. The Help page covers the everyday answers.
