Notes
Verse-linked personal study notes
Creating a note
Long-press any verse number in the Bible panel (Desk tab). A note is created instantly, anchored to that verse, and the ToDo tab opens with the note ready to edit in the word processor at the bottom of the right panel.
The note editor
The editor in the ToDo tab is a full word processor supporting bold, italic, headings and bullet lists. Notes are saved automatically as you type — there is no save button. When you move to a different note or navigate away, the previous note is saved immediately to iCloud.
Note icon on verses
Once a note exists for a verse, a small note icon appears at the end of that verse line in the Bible panel. Tap it to open the Companion Panel Notes tab showing that note.
Viewing notes in the Companion Panel
The Notes tab in the Companion Panel shows all your notes sorted by most recently edited. Features include:
- Search — filter by title, content or verse reference
- Verse reference and date shown under each note title
- Preview — first two lines of content shown in the list
- Pencil icon — opens the note in the ToDo editor
- Trash icon — deletes the note permanently
- Right-click → Delete — alternative deletion method
Single note view
Tapping the note icon on a verse opens the Notes tab showing just that one note — title, verse reference and full content. A ← All Notes button returns to the full list. A trash button deletes the note.
Storage and sync
Notes are stored as plain text files in your iCloud Drive container. They sync automatically across your devices via iCloud. Each note is a separate file named with its verse reference and a unique identifier.
Note formatting
The editor supports standard formatting via the Note menu or keyboard shortcuts:
| Format | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Bold | ⌘B |
| Italic | ⌘I |
| Heading | ⌘⇧H |
| Bullet list | ⌘⇧L |
| Increase font size | ⌘+ |
| Decrease font size | ⌘- |
